This week we head to Whangarei in New Zealand’s North Island and walk to the top of Mount Manaia. We have our first ever encounter with New Zealand Orca’s (killer Whales) and Jo does an awful lot of squealing when they swim past the boat while hunting stingrays. A truly awesome encounter.
We get our furler fixed and then have a lively sail to Great Barrier Island in 30 knots of breeze. On the way we get welcomed by some very excited dolphins, surfing and playing in our bow wave. Our most active dolphin encounter so far!
When we arrive at the Barrier we then discover a stowaway from our Fiji crossing – a very ripe character.
