We had a great day doing two gorgeous walks on Magnetic island. Beautiful weather and scenery.
We walked from our anchorage in Horseshoe bay to the old Forts. We were lucky enough to see 6 or 7 of the local residents hanging out in the trees on the way. (check the video at the end π)
We then hopped on the bus into Nelly bay for a spot of lunch, and we actually managed to find a cafe that had vegan options. Result πAnother bus trip to Picnic Bay for a climb up to the lookout before wending our way home.
Top day ππ
We weighed anchor and said farewell to Magnetic Island today after 10 glorious days. We did local walks to the beautiful bays and beaches as well as enjoying several beach sundowner gatherings with our fellow cruisers. ( these are crucial meetings in order to keep up to speed with info on good anchorages and weather windows. Ahem..)We had hardly a breath of wind, so we motorsailed almost all of the way to Orpheus Island. It was a fabulous day on the water despite having the engines on.
The highlight was watching a beautiful scalloped hammerhead cruise by π. Too slow to capture it on film unfortunately, but so awesome to see.
The wind picked up around 3pm so we at least managed to sail the last few miles into our anchorage at Little Pioneer Bay.
We scored the last public mooring and are watching another cracker of a sunset.
