Sailing Tonga. Swimming with whales in Vava’u. EP23

Swimming with humpback whales was the highlight of the Vava’u islands. Humpback whales come to  Tonga to breed and give birth and Tonga is one of the few places in the world where you are allowed to swim with them. We had our friend Sharon onboard for 10 days. Sharon had never swum with whales before , so spending time up close with a mum and baby humpback was an amazing experience for her.

The weather is a little tricky as instead of the typical south east trades, we get a week of westerlies. We  find good shelter in Hunga lagoon even if the entrance is a little tricky.

In between kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling and drone flying, we find time to celebrate Shazza’s birthday.

And did we mention,  we swim with Humpback whales 🙂
