Sadly , it’s our last day in Tuvalu. We hire a very bouncy moped and check out out with immigration and customs. We stop off at the local Maneaba ( meeting house) where the Vaitupu community are celebrating their ‘Happiest Day’ with much singing , dancing and laughter. After a peaceful final night at anchor in Funafuti, we complete our final checks and start our trip north for the 700 nm trip to Kiribati. We have a wonderful crossing with calm seas and just enough wind to sail. King Neptune arrives in time to conduct our Equator Crossing Ceremony as we transition from Pollywogs to Shellbacks!
